Why I Think Luke Voit Should Be New York's Starting First Baseman Instead Of Greg Bird
As people, as fans we all have our opinions and I'm going to share mine on why I think Luke Voit should be New York's starting first baseman.
Luke Voit came over after New York traded Chasen Shreve to Saint Louis and he seems to have made himself right at home in the Bronx. This season his batting average is 313 with 8 runs 15 hits , 4 home runs along with twelve runs batted in. "according to http://m.mlb.com/player/572228/luke-voit although he's not the starting first baseman instead that role belongs to Greg Bird who can't ever seem to stay healthy. As far as Greg Bird's stats for this season go they look like this. His batting average is lower then Luke Voit's at 196 to go along with 22 runs, 50 hits, 11 runs and 35 runs batted in. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/player/595885/greg-bird and his defense hasn't been so stellar as of late either. On Tuesday in New York's win over the Chicago Whitesox. The play saw a routine throw clang off Greg Bird's glove at first base. Bird explained that he was breaking in some fresh leather, and he also mashed three balls with nothing to show for it. That frustration seemed to serve as a microcosm, as the Yanks' heavy bats had produced just one hit when Chicago knocked starter Lance Lynn out in the sixth. So why not give Luke Voit a chance at being the starting first baseman for New York? The way I see it with Greg Bird's batting average and defensive woes it can't hurt to give him a shot.
