Gerrit Cole Was Stellar, Luke Voit Produced In His Return From The Injured List But Jonathan Loaisiga, Offense Struggled And New York Lost To Kansas City In Bronx New York

Gerrit Cole was stellar!

How stellar?

Gerrit Cole threw seven strong inning , 108 pitches , allowing two runs on three hits, three walks while striking out six.

First baseman Luke Voit produced in his return from the injured list from Grade 2 oblique strain.

How?

Luke Voit hit a solo home run that was projected 423 feet and also hit a fly ball deep to left field that looked destined to be his second home run of the game but it was left a triple.

Why?

Because of replay!

But New York didn’t win the game because instead they lost by a score of 6-5!

Why?

Because reliever Jonathan Loaisiga gave up a four run frame that included four singles and a double and only recorded two outs.

Jonathan Loaisiga had this to say about his relief appearance!

Frustrating night for me. I lost the game,” Loaisiga said through an interpreter. “Gerrit Cole threw a great game, and I lost that for him. ... My sinker wasn’t moving the way I would like it to move; it was staying more in the zone. ... It’s tough when your best pitch is not working the way you want it.”

And New York was 0-10 with runners in scoring position.
