Greg Allen, Estevan Florial, Brett Gardner, Gary Sanchez, Giancarlo Stanton Provided The Offense For New York As They Topped Philadelphia In The Opening Game Of The Two Game Series
Greg Allen , Estevan Florial , Brett Gardner, Gary Sanchez Giancarlo Stanton provided the offense for New York as they topped Philadelphia by a score of 6-4 in the opening game of their two game series.
When?
Last night!
Where?
Bronx New York!
How?
In the fifth inning Greg Allen drew a leadoff walk off Phillies starter Aaron Nola, stole second base, advanced to third on a fly ball to center field and scored the game-tying run on a line drive that Philadelphia shortstop Didi Gregorius threw past third base attempting to turn a double play.
Brett Gardner hit the go ahead home run just above Philadelphia right fielder Bryce Harper’s head.
Estevan Florial, who was recalled before Tuesday’s game to replace the injured Trey Amburgey -- himself a Triple-A replacement on the Yankees’ roster -- drove in Allen in the third with a grounder to first base for his first career RBI but Estevan Florial wasn’t done after his run batted in!
Why?
Because Estevan Florial homered for the first time at the Major League Leve.
When?
In the eighth inning!
But after Estevan Florial’s home run the New York offense still wasn’t done!
Why?
Because Gary Sanchez, Giancarlo Stanton also homered!
Those home runs provided some breathing room for the relievers that included Zack Britton, Chad Green, Aroldis Chapman who combined for for six strikeouts and an inning-ending double play to escape jams and shut down Philadelphia in the seventh, eighth, ninth.

But could mother nature get in the way of the New York, Philadelphia finale,
Asher Wojciechowski’s start for New York?
I’d say that is a possibility!
Why?
Because at first pitch it’s supposed be partly sunny with thunderstorms and 51 % chance of rain.
