North Carolina, NC State are opposing one another twice during the regular season on the hardwood!

Their first match up is today in Chapel Hill!

North Carolina comes into the the first match up of the season with NC State with a record of 14-6 while they are 6-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and is fifth in the standings despite having an off shooting night on Wednesday against Boston College in Chapel Hill where they were victorious despite shooting under 30%.

In North Carolina’s 58-47 win over Boston College Caleb Love contributed 16 points, RJ Davis contributed 13 points.

North Carolina survived an off-night by their top scorer and ACC field-goal percentage leader Armando Bacot, who was only 1-of-10 shooting for six points though he had 18 rebounds. Bacot's string of double-doubles ended at 10.

Boston College last lead came at 13-12 but it stayed within single digits and trailed by three after a basket by Brevin Galloway with 7:13 remaining. The Eagles didn't score again, missing their final 10 shots.

Quinten Post scored 10 points to lead BC. T.J. Bickerstaff collected a career-tying 17 rebounds to go with seven points. Leading scorer Makai Aston-Langford had just four points.

In the first half, North Carolina went on a 9-0 run with six points from Kerwin Walton while BC missed nine straight shots enabling the Tar Heels to take an eight-point lead by the 8-minute media timeout. James Karnick scored six of the Eagles' last eight points to get BC within 33-31 at halftime.

NC State comes into the first match up of the regular season with North Carolina with a record of 10-11 while they’re 3-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and are thirteenth in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings because unlike North Carolina NC State lost their previous game on Wednesday when they lost to Notre Dame in South Bend 65-73.

In NC State’s 73-65 loss to Notre Dame in South Bend Notre Dame went on a 15-0 run early in the second half and turned back every NC State comeback attempt to defeat NC State 73-65. The game was tied at 30 at the half and the Pack came out and scored the first five points of the second half to take a 35-30 lead.

After a Notre Dame timeout, Nate Laszewski scored the next eight points of the game to give the Fighting Irish a lead it would never relinquish. Notre Dame would extend the run to 15-0 to take a 45-35 lead with 14:03 to play.

The Pack would battle back to get within three, 49-46, on a Casey Morsell three-pointer, but Notre Dame responded with a three on its next possession to go back up by six.

NC State would never get closer than four points the rest of the way.

Dereon Seabron led the Pack with 21 points and eight rebounds. It was the ninth 20-plus point performance of the season for the Norfolk, Va., native.

Jericole Hellems added 14 points while Casey Morsell finished with 10 points and a career-high tying eight rebounds.

Cam Hayes reached double figures for the first time in 10 games with 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

The two teams were even at the break after a first half that saw both teams shoot under 40 percent from the field. The largest lead for either team in the first half was a five-point advantage for NC State at 16-11. The two teams exchanged the lead eight times and had seven ties in the opening 20 minutes.

Nate Laszewski led the Fighting Irish with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting and had 11 rebounds.

Notre Dame, the ACC's top three-point shooting team, hit 11 three-pointers in the game.
