As for Duke's last game, they suffered their first loss of the season to Miami,

I guess Duke shouldn't play on Friday in the future after their offense was non-existent as they welcomed Miami to Brooks Field @ Wallace Wade.

Miami held Duke scoreless and to just 125 yards of offense in the second half, handing the Blue Devils a tough 31-6 loss Friday night at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium. The setback was the first for the Blue Devils in 2017. "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

Duke falls to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in ACC action, while the Hurricanes improve to 3-0 and 1-0 in league play. "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

Miami finished the night with 409 yards of offense, 270 of which came through the air by quarterback Malik Rosier and scored 10 points off of turnovers to seal the victory. Duke had 349 yards overall with Johnathan Lloyd leading the way with 83 yards receiving and Shaun Wilson carrying the ball nine times for 63 yards. Daniel Jones went 21-of-41 for 166 yards. "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

The first quarter featured a lot of action on both sides of the ball as the teams combined for 290 yards, 182 for Miami and 108 by the Blue Devils, and 17 points. "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

In a theme for much of the game, Duke couldn’t convert on fourth down inside the red zone, giving the Hurricanes the ball back without getting on the scoreboard. The Hurricanes capitalized and in under two minutes drove 76 yards, 39 of which came on a single pass, to take a 7-0 lead with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Rosier to Braxton Berrios in the back of the end zone. "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

In nearly identical fashion four minutes later, Miami made it 14-0 with a seven-play, 68-yard drive that culminated in a one-yard quarterback sneak by Rosier. The Hurricane signal caller rushed for 20 yards and threw for 44 more yards on the drive that took just 2:27 off the clock.  "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

Duke cut into the Miami lead late in the first quarter with a 27-yard Austin Parker field goal. Buoyed by a 39-yard kickoff return from Wilson, the Blue Devils drove 48 more yards on 10 plays before having their drive stall at the Hurricane 9-yard line and settling for a field goal. "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

In danger of falling behind by 18 with Miami at first-and-goal on the 1-yard line, the Blue Devils came up with three huge goal-line stands to hold the Hurricanes to a field goal and a 17-3 advantage with just over three minutes left in the half. "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

The Blue Devils got the ball back on their own 25-yard line on a touchback and quickly made their way into Miami territory with consecutive completions from Jones to Lloyd. Duke picked up 16 more yards, with 11 of those coming on passes to Lloyd, but once again the Blue Devils struggled to convert from within the 20-yard line and had to settle for a 36-yard Parker field goal to head into the locker room trailing 17-6. "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

Defense was the story of the third quarter as the teams traded possessions, but were unable to show anything for it. Both squads had 74 yards of offense, zero points, and only nine first downs. Bryon Fields Jr. recorded his third interception of the season in the quarter, but Duke couldn’t make anything of it once it crossed over into Miami territory and turned the ball over on downs. "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

Miami started to pull away early in the fourth quarter, forcing Duke into a three-and-out and responding with a 49-yard strike from Rosier to Ahmmon Richards for the 24-6 advantage. The Hurricanes tacked on one more touchdown after a Duke fumble to seal the win in Durham. "according to http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22672&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211670513&DB_OEM_ID=4200

As for Virginia's last game, unlike Duke who lost their last game, Virginia had no problem handling Boise State,

After losing 20 of its last 21 road games coming in, Virginia had a festive vibe in its locker room following a 42-23 dismantling of Boise State on Friday night with plenty of players excited about the 2,400-mile flight home. ''It's going to be a fun trip back,'' Virginia quarterback Kurt Benkert said, whose team was a 14-point underdog. ''We see what people say, and it's expected after what kind of season we had last year. But we know what we're capable of and how much better we are. Virginia (3-1) notched its first win west of the Mississippi River since 1999 when it beat BYU 45-40. In avenging an embarrassing 56-14 loss to Boise State in 2015, the Cavaliers also surpassed their win total from last season. "according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

Boise State (2-2) hasn't suffered a double-digit loss at home since the 2001 season. "according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

''There's gonna be some changes,'' said Boise State coach Bryan Harsin, whose team is 5-5 in its last 10 games. ''What they are, I don't know yet. But we need to fix the consistency of our entire team in all three phases. It can't just be about one side." according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

''Good football teams play together, play off each other, and help all sides of the ball in one way or another. And that just didn't happen tonight.'' "according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

While this was Virginia's first trip to Boise, second-year coach Bronco Mendenhall faced the Broncos on the road twice while coaching BYU, losing both times." according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

This time, it was different. "according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

After surrendering an 80-yard scoring drive to open the game, Virginia took control by ripping off 21 straight points. "according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

The momentum shifted on a botched play by Boise State's special teams, a long-time signature strength of the Broncos. Trailing 14-7 late in the first half, Boise State attempted a fake punt from its own 40, but Alec Dhaenens fumbled the direct snap and fell on it at the 33. Two plays later, Benkert hit Doni Dowling on a 27-yard scoring strike to push the Virginia lead to 14 points. "according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

Boise State rallied with a quick touchdown before halftime, but Virginia took the opening drive of the second half 75 yards, on three plays, capped by a 64-yard touchdown pass from Benkert to Andre Leverone. "according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

With a trio of scoring strikes, Benkert moved into fifth among Virginia career touchdown passing leaders with 31. "according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

TAKEAWAYS
Virginia completed the non-conference portion of its schedule with a statement win. After struggling through a 2-9 season a year ago, Mendenhall already has the Cavaliers trending upward heading into ACC play. "according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

Boise State, which was one bad break away from beating Washington State and likely entering the game with Virginia ranked, has an open date at the right time. The Broncos need to figure out their identity on offense and solve a plethora of problems with the special teams unit." according to http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092317aaa.html

Kick-off is set for 12:20 pm. The game will be televised on the ACC Network. "according to tohttp://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22680&SPID=1843&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211671061&DB_OEM_ID=4200
