The Great American Past Time
Why do they call the game of baseball the great american past time? "According to an article on bleacher report by Micah Chen"How about seeing a home run leave the ball park? exciting right? How about a a young fan catching a ball in the stands and then getting to keep it as a souvenir? No other sport has that!
In baseball teams don't just play one or two games per week . They play every day with one day off during the week which gives fans more opportunity to see the teams play compared to basketball or football where they play one or two days a week. They also play against a team more then once .
In baseball they have what you call a farm system for their draft prospects to work on their game and improve and when they are ready for the big leagues the franchise will call up a player from what ever farm team he plays for for the big leagues .According to baseball-referece.com" The yankees farm system consists of Triple A Scranton / Wilkes- Barre. AA Trenton and advanced A Tampa and if you are a rookie the New York Yankees
How about the Miami Marlins farm system ?AAA- New Orleans , Double A Jacksonville , advanced A Jupiter and if you're a rookie the Miami Marlines.
Major League baseball has the mid summer classic called the MlB All star game where fans vote players in on a ballot on mlb.com for each league american league and the national league. The game also has some meaning to it as well the league that wins the game gets home field advantage in the playoffs. It used be that the american league would dominant but in past years the National has started winning the all star game. What will happen this year ?
