Luis Severino Gets One Last Outing As New York Looks To Rebound As They Take On Milwaukee Before Taking His Talents To Miami For The All-Star Game

It's an honor for players from both the American League and National League to be selected to the all-star team.

Luis Severino is one of twelve American League pitchers headed to this year's All-star game in Miami.

Saturday will be his last tune-up before he heads to Marlins Park with his teammates that include right -fielder Aaron Judge and fellow New York right-hander Dellin Betances.

Yankees right-hander Luis Severino has looked like an ace for much of the 2017 campaign, though he faltered in his most recent outing, against the Astros on Sunday. Severino, an All-Star, will look to bounce back against lefty Brent Suter and the Brewers today at Yankee Stadium.

Against Houston, Severino allowed six earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. It was the first time he didn't complete six innings since May 19. He said that commanding his fastball and taking advantage of his biting slider are the keys to returning to form against the aggressive Brewers lineup.

"If I have my command and my slider is sharp like always," Severino said, "I think I'll be good."

The Brewers, who are in first place in the National League Central, lead the NL in homers and are in the top 10 in the Majors in runs scored. They also lead the NL in stolen bases.

Suter, who is in his fifth stint in the Majors this season, picked up the first win of 2017 in his previous outing, which was his second start of the year, on Monday against the Orioles. He went six innings and allowed one unearned run on four hits in place of the injured Chase Anderson.

"It's an honor to be a starter because you have the biggest job that day," Suter said. "You manage the expectations for that day. You have to go through a lineup two or three times, maybe four times, and that's hard to do."

Three things to know about this game

• Severino is 1-2 with a 4.88 ERA over his last four starts after he went 4-2 with a 2.90 ERA over his first 11 outings.

• Brewers first baseman Eric Thames is expected to be back in the lineup for Saturday's game. He was out of the lineup on Friday because the Brewers were facing a lefty, Jordan Montgomery.

• Suter circled the series against the Yankees on his calendar before the season even started, without even knowing he'd be on the Major League roster and is excited about facing the Yankees.

As for New York's last game in the opener against Milwaukee, their bullpen struggled yet again.

New York has yet to win a game since their bullpen has been struggling. Although Friday night in the opener the bullpen was non -existent in a 9-4 loss.

How do you expect to win games if your bullpen is non-existent?

As for the game, Jesus Aguilar and the Brewers could stomach committing five errors after their long night ended with a fifth consecutive win. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

Aguilar homered twice, including a grand slam, and tied Milwaukee's franchise record with seven RBIs to overshadow Aaron Judge's Major League-leading 30th home run in the Brewers' 9-4 win over the Yankees on Friday evening at Yankee Stadium. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

"I'm a very, very happy man," Aguilar said through translator Carlos Brizuela. "I'm happy I tied [Ryan Braun's] record, but I'm most happy that we got the win. As long as we keep winning. ... The most important thing is we came back from [the errors]. We kept our heads up." "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

With their eighth win in nine games, the Brewers pushed nine games over .500 for the first time this season and remain 4 1/2 games ahead of the second-place Cubs in the National League Central. The Yankees lost for the 17th time in 23 games. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

"It's really disappointing, but we didn't have many hits," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "They gave us some opportunities through their errors and we scored some runs, but we didn't have a lot of hits tonight. If you put some walks and some hits with those five errors, you can put up a pretty big number, but we weren't able to." "According to tohttp://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

The Brewers got those critical hits, the biggest from Aguilar, a waiver claim from Cleveland just before the start of Spring Training who has split time at first base with Eric Thames. He slugged a two-run homer off New York starter Jordan Montgomery and lifted a sacrifice fly off relieverTyler Webb before delivering the crucial blow in the seventh inning, a drive to center field off Tyler Clippard for his first career grand slam. Both homers came on full counts. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

"He's a rookie doing this, but it feels like an experienced at-bat," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. "He's putting together professional at-bats, and he has a plan. Knows what he can and can't do. He's a very mature hitter when he steps in the box." "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

Brewers rookie left-hander Josh Hader was credited with the victory in relief of starterJunior Guerra, who permitted three runs (one earned) over 3 1/3 innings before leaving due to a 51-minute rain delay and a right shin contusion. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

Montgomery waited out the delay but was lifted after 4 1/3 innings. Ji-Man Choi hit his second homer in as many games and Judge eclipsed Joe DiMaggio's 1936 club rookie home run record with a solo shot in the fifth, but it wasn't enough to keep the Yankees from their 17th loss in 23 games. After a 0-2 wild pitch led to two Brewers runs in the sixth inning, Clippard ran into more trouble in the seventh, issuing back-to-back one-out walks to Jonathan Villar andDomingo Santana. After a flyout, Travis Shaw was intentionally walked. Clippard then worked the count to 3-2 but couldn't sneak a 91.9-mph fastball past Aguilar, who mashed it a Statcast-calculated 424 feet toward Monument Park. It's just frustrating. I felt like I battled pretty well most of the day," Clippard said. "Obviously, the walks hurt, but even the last at-bat, when I gave up the home run, I made some good pitches. Obviously, the last one wasn't what I was trying to do, but that's baseball, man. It's just frustrating." "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

#AllRise past Joe D: Judge became just the second rookie in Major League history to reach 30 homers prior to the All-Star break, joining Mark McGwire (33 in 1987) with his fifth-inning blast to center field off Hader. Judge's homer was the high point of the evening for the Yankees, who took a 4-2 lead before the bullpen coughed it up an inning later. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

"It's quite an honor. It's been a fun first half so far," Judge said. "I'm blessed to be in this position with my teammates around me, always putting me in the right spot and helping me do my best and helping me succeed." "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

The Brewers became the first team to commit at least five errors in a victory since the D-backs beat the Giants, despite five errors, on April 8, 2012. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

According to STATS Inc., Aguilar became the first Brewers rookie in the seven-RBI club and the second rookie to drive in seven or more runs against the Yankees since the RBI became an official stat in 1920. The other was Boston's Walt Dropo on July 1, 1950. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

Montgomery returned to the mound after the rain delay, but Guerra did not. The Brewers later announced that Guerra had a bruised right shin from a comebacker off Austin Romine's bat just as the rain started falling. Brewers head athletic trainer Dan Wright tended to Guerra for a moment and he remained in the game, but after one pitch, the umpiring crew sent the teams off the field. Counsell expects Guerra to be ready for his first start after the All-Star break. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/241011472/jesus-aguilar-records-7-rbis-in-brewers-win/

"He was probably going to have to come out of the game pretty soon after, anyway," Counsell said. "He should be all right [after the All-Star break]. I thought it was a step in the right direction. We didn't make it easy on him with our defense, but it looked like the velocity was a little up tonight. The walks are still there, but I thought his stuff was crisper." New York drops to 44-40 and is now 4.5 games back of their rival Boston who has a record of 50-37 and is leading the American League East.

New York and Milwaukee will play game two of their three-game set Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Right -hander Luis Severino who has a record of 5-4 with a 3.52 earn run average was named to the A.L All-Star team, Severino struggled in his last outing, allowing six runs in 5/1/3 innings and taking the loss against the Astros. He will go up against Milwaukee left-hander Brent Suter who has a record of 1-1 with a 3.00 earn run average. Filling in for the injured Chase Anderson on Monday, Suter struck out a season-high eight batters and earned his first MLB as a starter. He became the first lefty to earn a win for the Brewers at Miller Park since Randy Wolf did in July 2012. Will Luis Severino bounce back from his outing in Houston? Will the New York offense be able to back up his start and produce runs off Brent Suter? Will the bullpen be able to hold the lead if they get it? Will Milwaukee be able to get their offense going against Luis Severino who is headed to this year's All-Star Game?

First pitch is set for 1:05 pm. The game will be televised on Major League Baseball Network and Yes. "according to https://www.mlb.com/gameday/brewers-vs-yankees/2017/07/08/491414#game_state=preview,game_tab=,game=491414
