Luis Severino Looks To Continue Dominant Season As New York Takes On Baltimore

Luis Severino has been dominant this season for Joe Girardi and New York in their rotation and he will look to continue it Friday in game two of this four game series against Baltimore at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees, who have just three road games remaining in the regular season, will look to continue to get cozy at home -- and solidify their postseason spot -- with red-hot starter Luis Severino getting the ball Friday night. The O's, who are still on the outside in the American League Wild Card race, will counter with rookie Gabriel Ynoa. "according to http://m.mlb.com/news/article/20170915254224216/severino-rolling-into-matchup-with-os-rookie/?game_pk=492297

Severino has a 1.83 ERA over his last three starts and will face an Orioles team he dominated in June. In that outing, Severino allowed one run on two hits over seven innings, picking up the win. He's coming off a gem in Arlington, where he limited the Rangers to one run on one hit over seven innings with 10 strikeouts. He set a season high and tied a career high by racking up eight K's on four-seam fastballs that start. Phil Hughes (April 21, 2010) is the only other Yankees pitcher since '08 to strike out that many batters on four-seamers in a single game. Ynoa, with the Orioles for his third big league stint of 2017, last pitched against the streaking Indians. He lasted 4 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. The righty had a 5.25 ERA in 21 starts for Triple-A Norfolk, and manager Buck Showalter said pitching in the Bronx will be yet another test as the organization evaluates Ynoa's future with Baltimore. "You're electing to make good decisions [this time of year]," Showalter said. "One, we think it's our best foot forward. I spent a lot of time looking at guys' records here at Yankee Stadium, trying to play matchup as much as the schedule allows." Many of the Orioles current starters have struggled in New York this season, which is why Ynoa will make his second consecutive start. "according to http://m.mlb.com/news/article/20170915254224216/severino-rolling-into-matchup-with-os-rookie/?game_pk=492297

You can't go out there and lay an egg like that. I've got to give us a chance and I didn't. It just hurts more, every game right now what we don't get in the win column hurts right now.
