Gary Sanchez Is Returning To The Disabled List With Groin Injury

This is the second time that New York starting catcher Gary Sanchez is on the disabled list with the same injury.

The injury may explain Sanchez's two mistakes in New York's 7-6 loss to Tampa Bay on Monday. The first lapse was Sanchez's slow reaction time to his 10th passed ball of the year, resulting in both the Rays' first run of the game and a heated discussion between himself and the pitcher, Luis Severino. Sanchez's second gaffe ended the game. The catcher hit a grounder to second basemanDaniel Robertson , who shoveled to shortstop Willy Adames,  Aaron Hicks slid safely into second as Aaron Judge crossed the plate for what would have been the tying run. The 25-year-old Sanchez was shelved since June 25, through the All-Star break, with the same injury. He returned from the DL on Friday against the Mets in the Bronx, going 1-for-9 with four strikeouts in the Subway Series.
