Aaron Judge Returns To The Starting Lineup As New York Takes On Boston

It was just a matter of time before right fielder Aaron Judge returned to the starting lineup.

That time just happens to be tonight when New York opens up a three -game series at Yankee Stadium against their American League East rival Boston.

The threat of rain pushed the start time for the Red Sox-Yankees series opener back six hours, so the batter's box at Yankee Stadium belonged to Aaron Judge on Tuesday morning. And all went well, so he'll be taking cuts in front of the home fans tonight. “according to https://www.mlb.com/yankees/news/aaron-judge-returns-to-yankees-lineup/c-295075894

Judge was inserted in the lineup vs. Boston, batting second and playing in right field. The 26-year-old returned to the field on Friday, but did not bat, playing two innings in right. “according to https://www.mlb.com/yankees/news/aaron-judge-returns-to-yankees-lineup/c-295075894

Earlier on Tuesday, Judge participated in a simulated game -- his second in as many days -- inviting a crowd of club executives to gather on the field and in the dugout as they evaluated their rehabbing slugger's swings against Minor League right-hander Adonis Rosa. “according to https://www.mlb.com/yankees/news/aaron-judge-returns-to-yankees-lineup/c-295075894

General manager Brian Cashman, manager Aaron Boone, hitting coach Marcus Thames and special advisor Reggie Jackson observed as Judge's opposite-field home run highlighted a session that would not have looked out of place if it had taken place in the early weeks of Spring Training.”according to https://www.mlb.com/yankees/news/aaron-judge-returns-to-yankees-lineup/c-295075894

With head athletic trainer Steve Donohue, bench coach Josh Bard, director of pro scouting Dan Giese and assistant general manager Michael Fishman also watching, Judge put three other balls in play, while swinging and missing at several pitches. “according to https://www.mlb.com/yankees/news/aaron-judge-returns-to-yankees-lineup/c-295075894

The session against Rosa followed Judge's activity during Monday's off-day, when the Yankees said he gathered 11 live at-bats while facing right-handers A.J. Cole and Chance Adams, plus Minor League left-hander Philip Diehl. “according to https://www.mlb.com/yankees/news/aaron-judge-returns-to-yankees-lineup/c-295075894

The 23-year-old Rosa spent most of his season with Class A Advanced Tampa, where he was 12-3 with a 3.84 ERA in 20 games (15 starts). Rosa also made two starts for Double-A Trenton and four starts for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.”according to https://www.mlb.com/yankees/news/aaron-judge-returns-to-yankees-lineup/c-295075894
