Welcome To New York Gerrit Cole
When the team that wears the pinstripes made an offer to Gerrit Cole to sign with their organization I was ecstatic so here is my inaugural welcome letter to a player who has decided to take his talents to the Bronx.
Gerrit Cole was drafted in 2008 by the team that wears the pinstripes with 28th pick in the Major League Baseball Draft but then he decided to go to UCLA.
After he went to UCLA the right -hander was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates who are a member of the National Central in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft where spent seven seasons.
In his first season in Pittsburgh in 2013 he had a record of 10-7 with a 3.22 earn run average. In 2014 he had a record of 11 -5 with a 3.65 earn run average. In 2015 he had a record of 19-8 with a 2.60 earn run average. In 2016 he didn’t have such a successful season as he did when he first came to Pittsburgh as he finished with a record of 7-10 with an earn run average of 3.88. In 2017 he finished with a record of 12-12 with a 4.26 earn run average in his final season with Pittsburgh as well as in the National League. After the 2017 season he not switched leagues but divisions as well as he went to Houston who is a member of the American League West where he had a record of 15-5 with a 2.88 earn run average in his inaugural season. In his final season in Houston and in the American League West he finished with a record of 20-5 with a 2.50 earn run average. “according to https://www.mlb.com/player/gerrit-cole-543037?stats=career-r-pitching-mlb&year=2019
Now Gerrit Cole is switching leagues as well as divisions again as he will be wearing pinstripes and pitching for the team he grew up rooting for. How cool is that? One thing I know for sure is that I enjoyed watching Gerrit Cole when he was a member of the Houston Astros but I am ecstatic that he is now going to be starting for the team that wears the pinstripes.
With that I say welcome to New York Gerrit Cole. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for the New York Yankees fans in the Bronx, around the United States as well as around the world.
