CC Sabathia Is Heading Into Final Season In The Majors
The off-season has come and gone and pitchers & catchers have reported to spring training including CC Sabathia who is attending his last spring training and heading into his final season not only in the Bronx with New York but his final Major League season.
CC Sabathia’s career started out being drafted in the 1998 Major League Draft where he was drafted in the first round by Cleveland where he was the twentieth pick overall and where he spent seven seasons from 2001-2007. As a member of Cleveland the left-hander collected 106 wins, 71 losses with a 3.83 earn run average. After eight seasons in Cleveland he went to Milwaukee where he spent one season where he collected 11 wins and 2 losses with an earn run average of 1.65. “according to https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/sabatc.01.shtml
In 2008 the left-hander arrived in the Bronx where he was a member of the 2009 World Series Championship team that included Derek Jeter who currently is the CEO of the Miami Marlines, Andy Petttitte who has retired. Jorge Posoda who has also retired, Mariano Rivera who has also retired. Other former teammates include Robinson Cano who spent nine seasons with New York before going to Seattle where the second baseman spent five seasons. After his five seasons in Seattle Robinson Cano has returned to the state where his career began only this time he’s a member of the New York Mets who are a member of the National League Other teammates on the championship team included catcher Francisco Cervelli who currently is a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates, current teammate Brett Gardner, Phil Hughes who currently is a free agent and pitcher David Robertson who has had two different stints pitching in New York with his first stint coming from 2008 to -2014 before he went to the Chicago White Sox for three seasons before returning to the Bronx in the middle of the 2017 season and spending all of 2018 with New York. David Robertson currently is a member of the Philadelphia Phillies whom he signed with this off-season Mariano Rivera who is also a former teammate of CC Sabathia has also retired from the game but then there are some of CC Sabathia’s former teammates who’s playing days are over but they’re still around the game in some capacity. Those include Nick Swisher, Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez and Kevin Cash. Nick Swisher is a studio analyst for Fox. Mark Teixeira is an analyst for ESPN. Like Nick Swisher Alex Rodriguez is an analyst for Fox Sports while Kevin Cash is currently the manager of the Tampa Bay Rays who like New York is a member of the American League East.
How will CC Sabathia’s Major League career as well as his career in the Bronx conclude? I’m hoping his career in the Bronx ends the way he came in 2009. With a World Series Championship.
