New York Opens The Season With Baltimore
On Thursday afternoon New York will open the 2019 by hosting Baltimore who like New York is a member of the American League East.
Japanese right -hander Masahiro Tanaka will start opening day for New York. Tanaka earns his fourth career Opening Day start, in the wake of Luis Severino's shoulder injury. Tanaka hopes for a different result than his previous openers (2015-18), all games the Yankees lost. Tanaka was 0-2 with a 9.49 ERA in those starts. He will oppose Baltimore right -hander Alex Cobb. Last season New York had a new manager at the helm in Aaron Boone who played twelve seasons in the Major Leagues that included stints in both the American League as well as National League during his twelve year playing career he played for Cincinnati , New York where he is currently the manager , Cleveland Washington as well as Florida which is known as Miami.
