An Update On James Paxton Who Is A Left Handed Starting Pitcher For New York

James Paxton who is from Ladner BC, Canada who’s nickname is the Big Maple and who is a left-hander and starting pitcher for the team that wears the pinstripes has been out of action for sometime.

Why?

Because he had back surgery.

James Paxton had back surgery  in early February, addressing discomfort that dated to his final regular-season start on Sept. 27 at Texas. “according to an article by Bryan Hoch on yankees.com

Though the left-hander recently returned to action as Paxton has been working out at a facility in Eau Claire, Wis., where he has been throwing two bullpen sessions weekly, occasionally with hitters standing in. Paxton said that he sensed some trepidation before getting back on the mound following the procedure -- a microscopic lumbar discectomy and the removal of a peridiscal cyst -- and was relieved when there were no issues.“according to an article by Bryan Hoch on yankees.com

James Paxton had this to say about his workouts.

I was feeling really good playing catch, so that was a really good sign,” Paxton said. “It’s always different when you get off the mound, so I was really interested to see how I was going to feel the next day. It turned out feeling really good. It's been getting better and better. The velocity is getting better and better, breaking balls and stuff like that, getting a feel for my pitches.” “ according to an article by Bryan Hoch on yankees.com

James Paxton has been communicating with pitching coach Matt Blake regularly. How? The left-hander has been  uploading video of his sessions so the Yankees can analyze his progress. Paxton said that he is tinkering with the grip on his fastball in hopes of increasing his spin rate, as well as improving the feel for his breaking balls and changeup. according to an article by Bryan Hoch on yankees.com

Last season James Paxton had a record of 15-6 with an earn run average of 3.82. “according to https://www.mlb.com/player/james-paxton-572020

What will his record be this season? I don’t know the answer to that question at this point. Why? Because the season is on hold because of the Corona Virus that is effecting us in the United States and around the world. But when and if the season gets underway hopefully I will get my question answered but until that time the Canadian born left-hander James Paxton will continue prepare for what is hopefully a 2020 season.
