Will Gerrit Cole Finally Get To Make His Debut For New York?
Gerrit Cole signed with the team that wears the pinstripes, the team that drafted him out of Orange Lutheran High School in 2008, the team he grew up rooting for nine months ago for nine years $324 million dollars.
But we have yet to see him take the mound for his first start for the team who wears the pinstripes who is a member of the American League East.
Why?
Because of the Corona Virus that is effecting us in the United States and around the world that shutdown Spring Training on March 12th 2020.
But could Spring Training be resuming soon and could we actually be able to see Gerrit Cole make his first start in pinstripes this year?
That is a possibility!
Why?
Because Major League Baseball plans to hold a 60-game season that will begin around July 24 but first needs players to sign off on a health-and-safety protocol and to pledge to arrive at home stadiums by July 1 to prepare for the season, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN. “according to an article by Jeff Passan and Jesse Rogers on espn.com

After nearly three months of fruitless negotiations, MLB opted to use the right given to it in the parties' March 26 agreement to impose a schedule of its desired length. If the players do, it would end a tortuous path to a return-to-play agreement in a typically confusing way: with the players rejecting a proposal, only to have one of the same length implemente. “according to an article by Jeff Passan and Jesse Rogers on espn.com
