Gerrit Cole, Asher Wojciechowski Starting As New York Heads To Maryland To Take On Baltimore

The team that wears the pinstripes was supposed to be playing Philadelphia for four games starting with two in Pennsylvania and then two in Bronx New York.

That isn’t happening!

Why?

Because they cancelled those games including Tuesday nights game after Miami tested positive for the Coronavirus “according to an article by ESPN.

Instead, New York who is a member of the American League East will now play Baltimore who like them is a member of the American League East for two games starting Wednesday with the opener in Baltimore Maryland.

New York comes into the game with a record of 2-1 and is in second place in the American League East while Baltimore also comes into the game with a record of 2-1 and is in third place in the American League East behind their division foe.

Gerrit Cole who grew up a fan of the team that wears pinstripes will start for New York.

Gerrit Cole who is a right hander comes into the game with a record of 1-0 with an earn run average of 1.80 Cole was credited with a complete-game victory in a rain-shortened Opening Day start at Washington. He threw 75 pitches in that outing and should be permitted to work in the 100-pitch range at Baltimore. He will oppose Baltimore right hander Asher Wojciechowski who comes into the game with a record of 0-0. Wojciechowski draws a tough matchup in his season debut, as the Yanks are starting their new ace, Gerrit Cole. The O's righty posted a 4.92 ERA in 17 games (16 starts) last season. He faced the Bronx Bombers once in '19, allowing five runs over four innings. “according to https://www.mlb.com/yankees/roster/probable-pitchers

As for New York’s previous game,

They played Sunday in the capital of the united states against the defending world series champion Washington. The result? New York topped Washington.

Gleyber Torres blasted a seventh-inning homer and delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth as part of a three-hit performance, leading the Yankees to a 3-2 victory over the Nationals. New York took two of three games in the season-opening series against the defending World Series champions.

However, that come before Patrick Corbin who is a left handed pitcher stifled the offense for the team that wears the pinstripesthrough six frames. “according to an article by Bryan Hoch

But Gleyber Torres offense wasn’t the only offense provided for the team that wears the pinstripes as Luke Voit did too as he homered off Washington reliever Will Harris to tie the game.”according to an article by Bryan Hoch.

Like New York,

Baltimore also last played on Sunday and won their previous game as they topped Boston who like them and New York is a member of the American League East.

Rio Ruiz and Anthony Santander and a four-hit day from José Iglesias backing LeBlanc, who pitched for long stretches better than his final line indicated. Santander also added a couple of fine defensive plays in right field, wrapping around the Pesky Pole on one to rob Xander Bogaerts of a home run. “according to an article by Joe Trezza on mlb.com

All came in support of an Orioles staff that largely held the line behind LeBlanc, with Miguel Castro and Tanner Scott recording key late-inning outs and 30-year-old rookie Cole Sulser notching a six-out save, the first of his career. They did not walk a batter as a team for the second consecutive game, marking the first time since May 2015 they’d gone two straight games without issuing a free pass. Joe Trezza on mlb.com

It was a complete effort, the kind that was hard to come by in these parts a year ago. How long can it continue? That’s largely beside the point. As manager Brandon Hyde said, “I want our guys to improve and we’re off on the right foot.” Joe Trezza on mlb.com

First pitch is set for 7:35pm from Orioles Park @Camden Yards. The game will be televised on MASN and Yes.
