Adam Ottavino Falters As New York Gets Swept By Tampa Bay, Loses Lead In The American League East And James Paxton, Gleyber Torres In The Process

New York lost more then the lead in the American League East verses Tampa Bay in the Bronx on Thursday afternoon!

They lost the finale and were swept at Yankee Stadium!

Why?

Right handed reliever Adam Ottavino allowed three runs and took the loss 10-5 to Tampa Bay while New York lost the lead in the American East as they’re now 0.5 games of Tampa Bay who is for the first time this season leading the American League East.

That wasn’t all New York lost on Thursday as they lost a couple players along the way!

Who were they?

James Paxton who was the starting pitcher for New York as well as their shortstop Gleyber Torres.

Why?

Because James Paxton who left handed pitcher for New York felt discomfort in his elbow as well as his forearm while his teammate Gleyber Torres left with an injured left hamstring. “according to an article by Bryan Hoch on mlb.com

While Tampa Bay meanwhile earned the sweep of New York and is now leading the American League East!

Why?

Joey Wendle and Mike Zunino contributed to Tampa Bay’s offense!

How?

Joey Wendle contributed a two run double off New York’s starting pitcher James Paxton and tied the game while also contributed the go ahead run with a single a run batted in in the sixth inning while Mike Zunino hit a three run home run Luis Avilán that gave the Rays an 8-4 lead. New York was supposed to open up a three game series with the Mets on Friday night at Citi Field in Queens New York but that isn’t happening as instead the opening game of the three game series was postponed!

Why?
