Gerrit Cole, Jake Arrieta Matchup In The New York, Philadelphia Opener As Didi Gregorius, Joe Girardi Return To The Bronx
Last week was when New York and Philadelphia were supposed to play a four game series that included two games in Pennsylvania against Philadelphia and two in the Bronx.
However,
That didn’t happen.
Why?
Because Miami had players test positive for the Coronavirus that is currently effecting us in the United States and around the world and they had to wait for tests to come back.
Instead, New York played at Baltimore and hosted Boston who like New York are members of the American League East.
On Monday though New York and Philadelphia will finally get to begin their four game series.
Where?
In the Bronx where they will play the first two games before New York heads to Philadelphia Wednesday and Thursday to continue as well as conclude the series.
New York who is a member of the American League East comes into the game with a record of 7-1 while Philadelphia who is a member of the National League East comes into the game with a record of 1-2. “according to https://www.mlb.com/yankees/standings

That isn’t all that happening though in the opening game as their will be some familiar returning to the Bronx. Who are they? From 2015 -2019 while Joe Girardi led the team that wears the pinstripes to their last world championship eleven years ago against Philadelphia.
As for New York’s previous game,
They swept Boston,
How?
With two long balls by Aaron Judge!
The right fielder has hit six home runs in five games. Including in the New York, Boston finale where Aaron Judge extended his career-best streak by homering in a fifth consecutive game, then added a go-ahead blast in the eighth inning, powering a 9-7 victory over the Red Sox in a Sunday slugfest at Yankee Stadium. “according to an article by Bryan Hoch on mlb.com
Judge’s second-inning, three-run blast off Matt Hall made him the first Yankee to homer in five straight contests since Alex Rodriguez in 2007, and Judge added a deciding two-run shot off Matt Barnes in the eighth. Judge leads the league with six homers, and he is the first Major Leaguer to hit five go-ahead homers in his team’s first eight games of a season.“according to an article by Bryan Hoch on mlb.com
Unlike New York,
Philadelphia hasn’t played a game against another opponent since they played Miami who had a Coronavirus outbreak on Sunday July 26th. In that game Velasquez’s revamped four-pitch mix and mindset made him one of the Phillies’ best Summer Camp stories. He sounds confident. The Phillies sound optimistic. But he struggled through three innings in his season debut in an 11-6 loss to the Marlins. He allowed three hits, four runs, two walks and two home runs. He struck out four. His outing spoiled a three-run home run from Bryce Harper and handed the Phillies a series loss to a team that lost a National League-leading 105 games last season. “according to an article by Todd Zolecki on mlb.com
First pitch is set for 7:05pm from Yankee Stadium. The game will be televised on Major League Baseball Network and Yes.
