Jameson Taillon Serves Up Three Run Homer To Franmil Reyes, Nick Nelson Struggles, Gets Sent To Alternate Site As New York Is Denied The Sweep As Cleveland Avoids Getting Swept By New York

New York won the first three games as well as the series over Cleveland!

When?

Thursday, Friday , Saturday!

Where?

Cleveland Ohio!

Why?

Domingo German returned, bounced back in New York’s 6-3 win over Cleveland!

How?

Domingo Germán allowed three runs (two earned) in the first inning. Cesar Hernandez’s sinking liner popped out of Brett Gardner’s glove in left field, Eddie Rosario’s infield hit knocked into Mike Ford at first base and Germán booted Franmil Reyes’ potential double-play ball up the middle.

Domingo German wasn’t the only one to bounce back as the New York offense did as well!

How?

DJ LeMahieu delivered a RBI single in the third, then Torres -- having earned a closed-door chat with manager Aaron Boone after failing to run out a grounder on Wednesday -- pushed two runs home with a third-inning RBI single that also eluded right fielder Josh Naylor for an error.

While Aaron Hicks and Rougned Odor each homered to account for New York’s offense.

While Cleveland lost the first three games of the series Thursday, Friday and Saturday!

Why?

They lost game one of the series on Thursday!

Why?

Cleveland’s pitchers struggled to throw strikes and walked nine New York players.

In game two on Friday the offense came storming out of the gate to put up three runs, but the offense was nonexistent for the rest of the game, as Cleveland fell, 5-3, to New York on Friday night at Progressive Field. And for the second straight outing, Allen couldn't escape the third inning.

The problem? His fastball.

In his first two starts, Allen struggled to find his footing through the first two innings, but he settled in to go five frames in each outing. When he toed the rubber in Cincinnati last time out, the opposite occurred, as he cruised through the first six batters he faced but gave up five runs (three earned) before recording an out in the third. It was then that he noticed that his fastball velocity started to dip.

He averaged 93.2 mph on his heater through the first two innings, but when he ran into trouble, that average velocity dipped to 91 mph.
