New York Bounces Back , Evens The Series , Gets Their First Win Of 2021 Season While Toronto Has Their First Setback Of The 2021 Season

New York opened the 2021 season on the diamond with a loss in the tenth inning!

To who?

Toronto in the season opener as well as the series opener of a three game series!

When?

Thursday April 1, 2021!

Where?

Bronx New York!

Why?

Why?

Because they lost by a score of 3-2!

Why?

Gerrit Cole pitched a sixth inning slider to Teoscar Hernández who sent it over the right field wall giving up his first home run of the regular season.

But that wasn’t all New York did as they struggled with runners in scoring position.

How?

New York was hitless in nine at-bats with runners in scoring position.

Jay Bruce connected for a two-run single off Tim Mayza in the sixth inning, a flare that found grass in left field;

DJ LeMahieu chopped a grounder in Cavan Biggio’s direction with a runner on third and, charging in, Biggio fired across to Guerrero. The throw was accurate, but Guerrero, sensing a bang-bang play, stretched too far, yanking his back foot off the bag.
