Is Gerrit Cole Going To Avenge His Earlier Loss To Tampa Bay Tonight When He Faces Them In St.Petersburg Florida?

Is Gerrit Cole going to avenge his earlier loss to Tampa Bay tonight when he faces them in St. Petersburg Florida?

Right now I don’t know the answer to that question but what I do know is that he is going to be looking to avenge that loss.

Why?

Because 24 days ago Gerrit Cole took the loss when New York hosted Tampa Bay!

When?

April 18, 2021 when New York lost to Tampa Bay by a score of 4-2!

Where?

Bronx New York!

Why?

Because Gerrit Cole served up a change up to Yoshi Tsutsugo who is a switch hitter for Tampa Bay as it hovered near the bottom of the strike zone. That 109th offering of the afternoon got smacked to the gap in right-center field, chasing home the deciding run of the Yankees’ fifth consecutive loss, a 4-2 defeat.

Tonight Gerrit Cole is going to be looking to avenge that loss to Tampa Bay!

Where?

St. Petersburg Florida!

Gerrit Cole comes into the game game with a record of 4-1 with an earn run average of 1.61.

New York who is a member of the American League East comes into the game with a record of 19-16 and is second in the division and 2.0 games back of Boston who is leading the division.

Why?

Because they won the opening game of the three game series!

When?

Last night by a score of 3-1!

Where?

St. Petersburg Florida!

Why?

Aaron Judge , Jordan Montgomery , Gary Sanchez led New York to a 3-1 over Tampa Bay in the opening game of the three game series.

When?

Last night!

Where?

St. Petersburg Florida!

How?

Aaron Judge hit a first inning home run off Tampa Bay starter Luis Patiño , Jordan Montgomery pitched six innings, threw eighty five pitches including twenty three change ups.

What is a changeup?

A changeup is one of the slowest pitches thrown in baseball, and it is predicated on deception.

The changeup is a common off-speed pitch, and almost every starting pitcher owns a changeup as part of his arsenal. (A larger number of relief pitchers do not, because they typically only face hitters once and therefore have less of a need for deception.) A good changeup will cause a hitter to start his swing well before the pitch arrives, resulting in either a swing and miss or very weak contact. But when a hitter is able to identify the changeup, the pitch is among the easiest to hit because of its low velocity.

And Gary Sanchez like Aaron Judge homered.

Meanwhile,

Tampa Bay who like New York is a member of the American League East comes into the game with a record of 19-18 is in fourth place in the division and is 3.0 games back of Boston who is leading the division.

Why?

Because Tampa Bay was on the other end of the spectrum in the opening game of the three game series!

When?

Last night!

Where?

St. Petersburg Florida!

Why?

Because they lost the opening of the three game series to New York by a score of 3-1!

Why?

Hits were hard to come by, as they managed only three on the night and recorded their Major League-leading 25th double-digit strikeout game. Hits with runners in scoring position were in even shorter supply, with Tampa Bay going 0-for-5 in those situations in the series opener. But their pitching was good enough to keep it close, even as they fell to 10-10 in games decided by two runs or fewer this season.
