How Is Corey Kluber Going To Follow Up His No-Hitter When He Starts For New York, Opposes Toronto, Steven Matz Tonight In Bronx New York?
The last time we saw Corey Kluber he was on the mound in Arlington Texas!
Doing what?
Throwing a no -hitter!
Verses who?
Texas!
When?
On Wednesday May 19, 2021 in a 2-0 New York win Corey Kluber threw the first no hitter since David Cone’s perfect game verses the Montreal Expos.
Against who?
Texas!
Why?
Corey Kluber appeared locked in from the jump, freezing his first two batters of the game for strikeouts. It didn’t matter that Kluber missed his spot badly on both punchouts.
And reel them in he did. His only blatant miss all night came in the form of a four-pitch walk to Charlie Culberson in the third inning, preventing perfection. Otherwise, Kluber carved up the Rangers for nine strikeouts on just 101 pitches. His best and most used pitch was the curveball -- which is tight and firm like a slider -- and it generated seven whiffs on 12 swings (58 percent whiff rate).
Corey Kluber had this to say about his no -hitter verses Texas!
“I’ve never been part of one [or] witnessed one, let alone thrown one,” Kluber said. “So, more than anything, it was a lot of fun to be a part of.”

How is Corey Kluber going to follow up his no -hitter when he starts for New York, opposes Toronto, Steven Matz tonight in Bronx New York?
Right now I don’t know the answer to that question but Corey Kluber is defiantly going to follow it up with something when he opens up the three game series for New York tonight when he starts for them, opposes Toronto, Steven Matz who unlike him is a left handed starting pitcher.
Where?
Bronx New York!
Corey Kluber comes into the game with a record of 4-2 with an earn run average of 2.86.
Why?
Kluber threw the Yankees' first no-hitter since David Cone's 1999 perfect game in his last start, tossing 101 pitches in his gem over the Rangers in Arlington. The two-time Cy Young Award winner walked one and struck out nine in the effort.
Steven Matz comes into the game with a record of 5-2 with an earn run average of 4.69.
Why?
Steven Matz is coming off a rough outing against the Red Sox and is still looking to stabilize things after a hot April and cold May. He pounded the zone last time out, but will need to find a way to miss bats and create weaker contact.

New York who is member of the American League East comes into the game with a record of 28-19 and is in third place in the division and is 1.0 games back of Tampa Bay who is leading the division.
Why?
Because they topped the Chicago White Sox who unlike them are a member of the American League Central in the finale by a score of 5-4!
When?
Sunday!
Where?
Bronx New York!
Why?
A lot went on in the finale of the three game series between New York, Chicago White Sox!
Some of it was pretty some of it wasn’t so pretty!
Where?
Bronx New York!
Jameson Taillon who started for New York scattered two hits, issued two walks and struck out four in the 80-pitch effort.
Jameson Taillon was backed early by Gleyber Torres, who laced a two-out, two-run single off Dallas Keuchel in the first inning.
New York’s third run scored in the fifth, as Gio Urshela bounced into a bases-loaded double play.
Though,
The game wasn’t all pretty!
Why?
Because New York had to comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game as well as to sweep the Chicago White Sox!
Why?
Because New York’s closer Aroldis Chapman blew the save!
When?
In the top of the ninth inning!
How?
Aroldis Chapman allowed his first earned run of the year. Aroldis Chapman had converted each of his first 11 save chances before surrendering a pinch-hit opposite-field homer to rookie Andrew Vaughn.
After Aroldis Chapman blew the game in the top of the ninth Clint Frazier singled, then stole second on a strikeout. DJ LeMahieu was walked intentionally to bring up Tyler Wade, who beat out a soft grounder for an infield hit. Relieving Aaron Bummer, Hendriks lost Judge to a five-pitch walk, his final offering a fastball that sailed high out of the zone.
And New York topped the Chicago Whitesox by a score of 5-4!

Toronto like New York is a member of the American League East but unlike New York Toronto has a record 23-23 and is fourth in the American League East and 5.5 games back of Tampa Bay who is leading the division.
Why?
Because unlike New York Toronto was swept by Tampa Bay in a four game series including yesterday’s finale when Toronto lost by a score of 14-8.
Where?
Dunedin Florida!
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did everything in his power to snap the Blue Jays’ skid, but another late meltdown ended their Dunedin residency with six consecutive losses, each more frustrating than the last.
Guerrero launched two home runs in Monday afternoon’s 14-8 loss, putting him in a tie with Ronald Acuña Jr. for the Major League lead. He put the Blue Jays on his back -- again -- and carried them to extra innings. Then Semien gave Toronto another breath of life, tying things up in the bottom of the 10th with a two-run blast.
Though,
Tampa Bay just kept doing what they do best, though, making all of the right plays in the right moments while avoiding the one big mistake. After trading jabs in that 10th inning, Tampa Bay put up a whopping seven runs in the 11th against Joel Payamps and Tim Mayza, turning one of the tightest games of the Blue Jays’ season into a lopsided loss by a touchdown.
