Why did Clint Frazier who is a left fielder for New York wear a mask during the 2020 Major League Baseball season?

During the 2020 season I didn’t know the answer to that question but now I do!

Why?

Because I read about it in Bryan Hoch’s new book The Bronx Zoom in Chapter 6 titled Summer Camp that I am currently reading.

The reason Clint Frazier wore a mask during the 2020 Major League Baseball season was because he had spoken to his girlfriend Kaylee Gambadoro who is studying to become a pediatric physician assistant. When she explained that mask were an assumed part of her workday , Frazier said he would make it part of his, too.

Why?

He believed that the healthiest team would finish on top calling the season “survival of the fittest;”and hoped that this act might provide a positive public example.
