Jordan Montgomery who started for the New York Yankees seemed to be out of the first inning when Jonathan Villar was waved home on a Javier Báez single to left field, prompting a terrific throw by left fielder Joey Gallo that beat Villar by more than 20 feet.
On the night Jordan Montgomery was Montgomery was charged with a career-high seven runs (five earned) and seven hits over 3 1/3 innings.
Gary Sánchez did not aggressively reach for Villar, and a video review showed the runner touched home plate before being tagged on the helmet.
