Has Michael King Found His Role In The New York Bullpen As A Reliever? I Think He Has Because He Has Been Effective In That Role!
Every pitcher on New York, the team that wears the pinstripes has a role!
If you’re a pitcher you’re a starter or reliever!
Michael King in the past had been sliding into the starting rotation to take place of a pitcher who is on the injured list.
Recently though that hasn’t been his role!
Why?
Because Michael King has been coming out of the bullpen for New York, for the team that wears the pinstripes!
Michael King has been effective in this role!
How effective?
In New York’s 7-2 win over the Toronto in their opening of the three game series in Toronto Canada Michael King had to replace Jameson Taillion who started the game who came off the injured list before the game with an ankle injury.
Why?
After Jameson Taillion threw his 38th and final pitch of the evening was a 94.8 mph fastball to strike out Toronto catcher Danny Jansen. Taillon grimaced as he made a short walk around the mound, then gestured toward the Yankees' bench.
“He waved us out, so I figured it had something to do with the injury,” manager Aaron Boone said. “I could tell right away that he had reaggravated it, so it was a quick decision for me to get him out of there.”
From there Michael King came in and pitched, held Toronto to one run and two hits over 2 2/3 innings and in the process picked up the win.
So I would say Michael King has found his role as reliever and be successful in that role.
