Gerrit Cole left his start verses Toronto In Bronx New York with left hamstring tightness last night!

Gerrit Cole had this to say about his injury!

“I'm obviously disappointed about the outcome for today,” Cole said. “But I kind of want to reserve judgement until we see how this thing kind of reacts for the next 24 to 36 hours.

“I guess for my mentality, I just want to make sure I’m good if I’m good, or if I need a few extra days, I need a few extra days. … Unfortunately, I just had to pull the plug in Tuesday’s game.”

New York suffered their fourth straight loss!

When?

Last night!

Why?

Because they lost to Toronto who like them is a member of the American League East by a score of 5-1!

Why?

Gerrit Cole was having problems was having problems from the start, as he had a tough time throwing his breaking pitches for strikes. He found himself behind, 1-0, in the second inning on a solo home run by Kirk, who went deep again in the eighth. Cole then allowed the next two runs on sacrifice flies in the fourth.

Offensively Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton went a combined 3-for-12 with one RBI.

Tonight New York, Toronto play game three of their four game series in Bronx New York!

Luis Gil has been an amazing addition to New York’s pitching staff when he has had the opportunity and come up from Scranton/ Wilkies -Barre which is the Triple A affiliate to New York!

How amazing?

In his inaugural start for New York he was taking the place of Gerrit Cole!

When?

On Tuesday August 3, 2021!

Why?

Gerrit Cole tested positive for the Coronavirus that in 2021 is still affecting us in the United States and around the world though he was vaccinated.

In Luis Gil’s inaugural start he threw six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out six. Gil relied heavily on his four-seam fastball -- clocked as high as 98.5 mph -- and slider to get quick outs.

In his second start for New York verses Seattle on Sunday August 9, 2021 Luis Gil started his second game for New York!

In that start Luis Gil followed his inaugural scoreless outing with another scoreless outing!

How?

He pitched five shutout innings, allowed two hits and struck out eight batters, though New York returned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the game.

Tonight,32 days later after being sent back to Triple A Scranton / Wilkies - Barre Luis Gil is back to make yet another Major League Baseball start verses Toronto!

Why?

Because Luis Gil who is a right handed pitcher is returning, starting, opposing Alex Manoah who like him is a right handed pitcher as New York, Toronto play game three of the four game series in Bronx New York!

Luis Gil comes into the game with a record of 1-0 with an earn run average of 0.00.

Alex Manoah comes into the game with a record of 5-2 with an earn run average of 3.63.
