Because Luis Severino started instead of Gerrit Cole on Sunday in the finale against Yusei Kikuchi, Toronto in Toronto Ontario Canada because Luis Severino didn’t make his originally scheduled start on Thursday because he was put on the Covid -19 injured list. Though, he never tested positive for Covid -19 and Clarke Schmidt who usually comes out of the bullpen for New York started in his place. After the game though Luis Severino was reinstated from the covid injured list, New York designated right handed pitcher, reliever Ryan Weber for assignment.

Then in the top of the 8th inning Anthony Rizzo homered to right 382 feet to get New York within one run. Though, that would be the final scoring for New York as Toronto’s closer Jordan Romano would collect the save in the top of 9th inning by pitching 1.2 innings giving up 1 hit , 0 runs, 0 earned runs, 1, walk while striking out 2 New York batters.
