North Carolina State Gets Their First Win Under Kevin Keatts

NC State got off on the right foot as a  new era began Friday night in Raleigh  as new head coach Kevin Keatts who previously was the head coach at UNC Wilmington recorded his first win as the NC State head coach.

The Kevin Keatts  era began with the second-highest scoring output in a coaching debut in program history as NC State defeated the VMI Keydets, 102-67, Friday night at PNC Arena. NC State (1-0) was led by grad transfer Allerick Freeman , who dropped a team-high 17 points in his Wolfpack debut. Redshirt-junior Torin Dorn  was the Pack's second-leading scorer with 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting for the game. Johnson finished just one assist shy of his first career double-double as he dished out a game-high nine assists for the Pack. Sophomore Omer Yurtseven  provided valuable minutes off the bench for the Wolfpack, finishing with 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocks Lamar Batts Jr . put up 10 points in his college debut on 4-of-6 shooting. Keatts became just the second coach in program history to lead his team to a triple-digit scoring output in his debut. Dorn was red hot in the first half, putting up 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting to lead all scorers.
