For the first time this season Tre Jones who is Duke’s freshman point guard was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie Of The Week after his performances against Princeton inside Cameron as well as against Texas Tech at Madison Square Garden.
Jones totaled 16 points, nine rebounds, 11 assists and six steals in wins over Princeton and Texas Tech as No. 2-ranked Duke (11-1) extended its winning streak to six games. The Apple Valley, Minn., native poured in 13 points, with a career-high six steals, five assists (one turnover) and five rebounds in the 69-58 win over No. 12 Texas Tech at Madison Square Garden, posting just the 15th 10-5-5-5 performance in Duke history and the fourth by a freshman. Jones’ defense helped Duke rack up 15 steals in the TTU win, leading to a 32-3 edge in transition points.
