How Many Players Currently In The NBA Did Grayson Allen Play With During His Tenure At Duke?

It's not often that people ask me questions about a particular player or team but recently someone asked me two questions after Grayson Allen was selected as the 21st pick to Utah in the 2018 NBA Draft.

How many players did Grayson Allen play with  during his four years at Duke that are currently in the NBA? The answer is thirteen.

Lets start with the 2014-2015 team that cut down the nets after Grayson Allen led Duke to a come back win over Wisconsin at Lucus Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

That team included Tyus Jones who currently is a member of his hometown team the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jahil Okofor who currently is a member of the Brooklyn Nets, Justise Winslow who currently is a member of the Miami Heat  Quinn Cook who currently is a member of Golden State and Amile Jefferson who currently is a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 2015-16 team included Brandon Ingram who currently is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, Amile Jefferson who was granted a fifth year of eligibility because of a foot injury and Luke Kennard who is currently a member of the Detroit Pistons. The 2016 -2017 team included Harry Giles who is a member of Sacramento, Frank Jackson who is a member of New Orleans and Jayson Tatum who is a member of Boston and Luke Kennard who also played his sophomore year at Duke before going to the NBA.  "according to http://www.goduke.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4200&SPID=1845&SPSID=22727&KEY=&Q_SEASON=2016

As for the 2017-18 season Grayson Allen played with three freshman who were drafted in the 2018 NBA Draft. Those players included Wendell Carter Jr. who was drafted by Chicago, Gary Trent Jr. who was drafted by Sacramento before being traded to Portland and Marvin Bagley III who was drafted by Sacramento.  "according to http://www.goduke.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4200&SPID=1845&SPSID=22727&KEY=&Q_SEASON=2017

As for the second question, Has any team come in with more players in the NBA?

Just like the past five seasons, Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, and North Carolina top the list of 117 Division I colleges that have one or more former players on 2017-18 NBA opening-day rosters, which was Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Kentucky had 27 former players on 2017-18 NBA opening-day rosters, Duke had 20, and Kansas and North Carolina each had 16. These four teams have led all other teams for six consecutive seasons with minor changes in the order of the teams. The 27 former players Kentucky had in the NBA on 2017-18 opening-day rosters is the largest number for any college since we began compiling this list on a yearly basis over 30 years ago. UCLA (15), and Arizona (12) complete the schools with double-digit numbers of former players on NBA opening-round rosters for 2017-18. Florida, Syracuse, and Texas (9 players each) and Indiana, Marquette, Michigan State, and Washington (8 players each) complete the list of the top 10 schools, including ties, with the most former players in the NBA. The top four schools supply about 16% of all NBA teams and nearly 5 teams' worth of NBA players, using a 16-player active NBA roster. "according to http://rpiratings.com/NBA.php
