Duke And Louisville Remain In The First Two Spots In The AP Top 25 Poll

Two teams out of the Atlantic Coast Conference remain in the first two spots in the AP Top 25 poll as we head into week four of the season.

Duke is the top ranked team in the country for the second week in a row while Louisville is second for the second week in a row.

How did they get to remain there? They’re both still undefeated with Duke recently winning the 2K Empire Classic by topping Georgetown by a score of 81-73.

Cassius Stanley, who led the Blue Devils with 21 points, made a pair of 3s to stretch the game open and shake off Georgetown, which was looking to knock off two straight Top 25 teams. The Hoyas, picked to finish sixth in the Big East preseason poll, knocked off No. 22 Texas a night earlier and went basket-for-basket with Duke in the first half. “according to https://goduke.com/news/2019/11/22/mens-basketball-krzyzewski-gets-milestone-duke-tops-tough-georgetown-in-nyc.aspx

The Blue Devils hung tight, and Joey Baker hit a 3 that pulled them within three. Carey pulled them even with a thunderous two-handed jam and gave them a lead on a tip-in. Carey threw his head back and screamed, the Hoyas went 6 minutes without a field goal and they went to halftime tied 33-all.”according to https://goduke.com/news/2019/11/22/mens-basketball-krzyzewski-gets-milestone-duke-tops-tough-georgetown-in-nyc.aspx

Meanwhile Louisville topped Akron by a score of 82-76 to make them 6-0 like their conference foe Duke.

Ryan McMahon made two free throws with 16.8 seconds left, helping No. 2 Louisville escape Akron 82-76 on Sunday night. “according to https://gocards.com/news/2019/11/24/mens-basketball-no-2-louisville-leads-big-before-holding-off-akron-82-76.aspx

The Zips trailed 55-33 early in the second before getting within 78-74 on the second of Loren Cristian Jackson's three consecutive layups. Darius Perry's two free throws with 23 seconds left provided a six-point lead before Jackson drove again to make it 80-76. “according to https://gocards.com/news/2019/11/24/mens-basketball-no-2-louisville-leads-big-before-holding-off-akron-82-76.aspx
