North Carolina And Pittsburgh Look To Rebound In Chapel Hill

North Carolina’s last game is one they would rather forget.

After suffering a horrendous loss to Georgia Tech in Chapel Hill North Carolina will look to rebound when they host Pittsburgh on Wednesday night but they will have to do it without the services of Cole Anthony their point guard who is out 4-6 weeks after having surgery for a torn Meniscus and Anthony Harris who is out for the season with an ACL injury that he had surgery Monday.

North Carolina comes into the game with a record of 8-6 while they’re 1-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and eighth in the standings while Pittsburgh comes into the game with a record of 10-4 while they’re 1-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and twelfth in the standings. “according to https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/standings/_/group/2

As for North Carolina’s previous game,

As stated above they lost to Georgia Tech.

Garrison Brooks had a career-high 35 points as the only source of reliable offense for the Tar Heels (8-6, 1-2), who shot 50% after halftime and got as close as nine early in the second half. The 6-foot-9 junior made 17 of 18 free throws and had 11 rebounds before fouling out with 2:21 left and getting a hearty ovation from a frustrated home crowd. “according to https://goheels.com/news/2020/1/4/mens-basketball-georgia-tech-recap.aspx

The loss prevented UNC Hall of Fame coach Roy Williams from earning his 880th career victory to break a tie with late mentor and former UNC coach Dean Smith for fourth on the all-time men's list.”according to https://goheels.com/news/2020/1/4/mens-basketball-georgia-tech-recap.aspx

Brandon Robinson (12 points) and Justin Pierce (11) were the only other players to hit double figures, leaving Brooks to carry the load essentially by himself. “according to https://goheels.com/news/2020/1/4/mens-basketball-georgia-tech-recap.aspx

North Carolina isn’t the only team that will look to rebound as Pittsburgh will as well after dropping their latest contest to Wake Forest in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

"Down the stretch, disappointing in our last few possessions, we didn't get the shots that we really wanted," said head coach Jeff Capel. "That's on all of us and we have to do a better job in those situations knowing where we want to get the shots from and making sure we execute to do that. We can't panic." “according to https://pittsburghpanthers.com/news/2020/1/4/mens-basketball-wake-forest-rallies-from-16-down-edges-pittsburgh-69-65.aspx

The Panthers missed their last five shots, including a potential go-ahead three-pointer by McGowens with 27 seconds left. "I thought Trey [McGowens] had a really good take," said junior guard Ryan Murphy. "I thought he had a really good look at it. I actually thought he was going to try to dunk it because he's really athletic and he had a good look at it but the guy just blocked it. I mean, that's basketball. Last minute, tensions are high, and guys are trying to make the last play." “according to https://pittsburghpanthers.com/news/2020/1/4/mens-basketball-wake-forest-rallies-from-16-down-edges-pittsburgh-69-65.aspx

Wake Forest went up 59-51 on a pair of free throws by Massoud with 7:33 to go before the Panthers responded. An Eric Hamilton layup capped an 8-0 run that tied it at 59 but the Demon Deacons hung around. A three-pointer by Andrien White gave the Demon Deacons a 66-63 edge and Wake Forest's defense made sure it was enough to hold on. “according to https://pittsburghpanthers.com/news/2020/1/4/mens-basketball-wake-forest-rallies-from-16-down-edges-pittsburgh-69-65.aspx
