For The Third Straight Game NC State Was On The Losing End! This Time, As They Closed Out The Non -Conference Portion Of Their Schedule With Wright State In Raleigh

For the third straight game NC State was on the losing end!

This time, as they closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule with Wright State in North Carolina’s state capital!

In NC State’s 84-70 loss to Wright State NC State led 38-37 at the break. The two teams traded baskets to start the final 20 minutes before a Tim Finke basket gave the Raiders a 41-40 lead with 18:00 to go. That basket was the start of a 15-4 run that gave Wright State a 10-point lead with 15:01 to go. NC State would never get closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Freshman guard Terquavion Smith scored a career-high 27 points to lead NC State. The freshman guard was 12-of-25 from the field.

Jericole Hellems added 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting and had six rebounds and three steals.

Dereon Seabron also reached double figures with 10 points.

Wright State shot over 50 percent in both halves on their way to a 52.5 percent shooting performance,

which ties for the best shooting percentage for an NC State opponent this season.

Wright State scored 46 of their 84 points in the paint. Grant Basile had a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Trey Calvin added 19 points while Tanner Holden had 17 points and AJ Braun added 13 points.

NC State is now going to prepare to tip off Atlantic Coast Conference play on Wednesday December 29,2021 on the road in Coral Gables Florida where they will take on Miami.
