In Honor Of His Former Head Coach Steve Wojciechowski At Marquette Theo John Is Going To Wear The Jersey Number 12 When He Plays For Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski, Duke

There have been a handful of players who’ve worn the jersey number 12 for Duke and Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski when playing on the hardwood!

Jordan Davidson, Javin DeLaurier , Alex Murphy , Kyle Singler , Patrick Tape and Justise Winslow and Patrick Tape and Steve Wojciechowski!

Two of those players were members of teams that won National Championships at Duke!

Kyle Singler in 2010 and Justise Winslow in 2015!

In 2010 Kyle Singler scored 19 points to help Duke knock off Butler by a score of 61-59!

In 2015 Justise Winslow was a member of the team who helped Duke win their fifth National Championship.

In 2021 -2022 the number twelve is going to be warn by a player yet again

As a sophomore, in 2018-2019 Theo John Started 32-of-34 outings …. Finished first in the BIG EAST and 34th in the nation in blocked shots per game (2.1) … Blocked at least one shot in 26 games … 70 blocked shots were seventh-best single-season MU total … Posted a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, along with three blocks, in the season opener against UMBC (Nov. 6) ... Scored 10 points and added six rebounds in an overtime win over Louisville (Nov. 23) in the NIT Season Tip-Off ... Posted six points, nine rebounds and a career-high seven blocks against No. 14/15 Buffalo (Dec. 21) … Finished with 10 points and 11 boards in home win over Seton Hall (Jan. 12) … Scored career-best 16 points versus DePaul (Jan. 23) and also chipped in 10 rebounds … Made 6-of-7 shots against Butler (Feb. 20) en route to 15-point, 11-rebound effort.

As a junior in 2019-20 Theo John appeared in all 30 games, earning 29 starting assignments … Finished third in the BIG EAST in blocked shots (1.8 bpg.) … Blocked two-or-more shots in 13 games … Posted seven points, eight rebounds and a career-best eight blocks in the season opener against Loyola Maryland (Dec. 5) ... Scored a season-high 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds in just 17 minutes against Jacksonville (Dec. 4) … Scored season-high 12 points against Central Arkansas (Dec. 28) … blocked total of 13 shots in back-to-back games against St. John’s (Jan. 21) and Butler (Jan. 24) … Posted first double-double of the year with 12 points and 10 rebounds versus Creighton (Feb. 18) … Finished with eight points and 10 boards against Seton Hall (Feb. 29) … Earned third letter.

As a senior in 2020-2021 , Theo John opened the season with sixth career double-double, finishing with 13 points and 12 rebounds against UAPB (Nov. 25) … Also chipped in five blocks … Knocked down first career 3-pointer on first attempt in nearly 100 games against Eastern Illinois (Nov. 27) … Matched personal best with 12 rebounds vs. Green Bay (Dec. 8) … Improved to 3-of-3 from 3-point land with triple against Seton Hall (Dec. 17) … Scored season-high 14 points at Xavier (Dec. 20) … Nine points, six rebounds and three blocked shots at St. John’s (Jan. 16) … moved into second place all time at Marquette in blocks (191) … matched career high with 16 points against St. John’s (Jan. 31) … finished with eight rebounds and two blocks against Red Storm … Finished 5-of-5 from the floor in 10-point night against Creighton (Feb. 6) … Scored 14 points at Seton Hall (Feb. 14), thanks to 8-of-9 effort from the free throw line … Scored 15 points at Butler (Feb. 17) and shot 7-of-8 from charity stripe … Finished with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting at North Carolina (2/24) … Played just two minutes off the bench at DePaul (March 2) due to non-Covid illness … Chipped in six points, four assists, three rebounds, two steals and a pair of blocked shots on Senior Night vs. Xavier (March 6).

Steve Wojciechowski (who was often referred to as "Wojo,") was named the top defensive player in the country his senior year, a two-time All-ACC choice and honorable mention Associated Press All-America. He appeared in 128 career games for for Duke and earned 88 starting assignments.
