    Mike Krzyzewski had this to say about his decision!

    You might ask, 'Why are you doing this right now?' Look, this is not about health. Mickie and I, whether we look it or not -- she does -- whether I look healthy ... I am. It's not about COVID or saying, 'Boy, that year was so bad.' It's not about that. It's certainly not about what's going on with college basketball. 'Boy, the game is changing.' All right. I've been in it for 46 years. You think the game has never changed?"

    He later added: "Those aren't the reasons. ... The reason we're doing this is because Mickie and I have decided the journey is going to be over in a year. And we're going to go after it as hard as we possibly can."

    And Jon Scheyer who currently is Mike Krzyzewski’s Associate Head Coach is going to be the Head Coach of Duke beginning in April 2023!

    As Mike Krzyzewski is coaching his final regular season as the Head Coach of Duke he has been receiving memorabilia, recognition along the way from Atlantic Coast Conference coaches, teams!

    Louisville, Head Coach Pegues gave Mike Krzyzewski a Duke Blue Louisville Slugger Bat with the Duke Logo as well as a Makers Mark Bottle with his face engraved on it.

    Leonard Hamiton shook Mike Krzyzewski’s hand at center court and then announced donation from Florida State to Emily K. Center and encouraged Florida State, fans, spectators to do the same.

    Mike Brey, Notre Dame shared a video tribute of his Mike Krzyzewski’s time on the Duke coaching staff!

    For eight seasons Mike Brey was an Assistant Coach for Mike Krzyzewski at Duke During his eight years at Duke Duke advanced to the Final Four six times and won back-to-back national championships in 1991 and 1992.

    Brad Brownell, Clemson are donating $5.00 each of Coach K’s career wins , 1,117 and counting to the Emily K. Center.

    Tony Bennett, Virginia Tony Bennett took to the microphone at mid-court prior to the national anthem and lineups to thank Coach K for his contributions to the game, the conference and wish him well in retirement.

    Tony Bennett also presented him with a plaque to commemorate the occasion.

    Jim Boeheim, Syracuse presented Mike Krzyzewski with on a piece of the old Carrier Dome roof. In addition, the announcement of a scholarship to honor a military connected student at Syracuse University.

    Jeff Capel, Pittsburgh played a video on the scoreboard that included Jeff Capel, Duke Hall Of Famer Dick Groat praising Mike Krzyzewski for his accomplishments. Then they presented Mike Krzyzewski with a trophy of a fist. The presentation followed the analogy to a fist is something Mike Krzyzewski has used his entire career.

    Mike Krzyzewski had this to say about his gift from Jeff Capel Pittsburgh!

    It’s five guys playing as one,,’’I’ve used with my West Point teams, my Duke teams and the United States Basketball Team . It just makes sense The five fingers are communication , trust , collective responsibility , care and bride. And my guys believe in that’’ Jeff Capel learned of it when he committed to Duke three decades ago, and it still means plenty to him.

    I’ve believed that it since I was 17 years old and that’s what I told him when I gave it to him.

    It meant plenty to Mike Krzyzewski.

    Why?

    Jeff is apart of our family so to be honored in that way , we really appreciate it . My family appreciates it.
