As North Carolina tipped off 2023-2024 season with 117 -53 win in exhibition on Friday October 27, 2023 enior guard RJ Davis scored 17 points in the first six minutes of the game as 19th-ranked North Carolina built an early lead and cruised past Saint Augustine's, 117-53, on Friday night in the Smith Center in the Tar Heels' lone exhibition contest of the 2023-24 preseason.
 
Davis recorded 20 points on 7 of 8 shooting, including 5 of 6 from three-point territory, in the first half. He cooled in the second half but still finished with 22 points, five three-pointers, nine rebounds and two assists.
 
Junior transfer Harrison Ingram joined Davis with the hot hand in the early going, piling up 14 points on 5 of 7 shooting (including 2 of 3 three-pointers) with five rebounds and a blocked shot in the first 20 minutes. Ingram stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots overall.

Seven Carolina players scored in double figures, including Davis (a game-high 22), Ingram (16), Jalen Washington (14), Armando Bacot (13), Creighton Lebo (11) and Zayden High and Cormac Ryan (10 apiece).

I wouldn't characterize [tonight] as old Carolina Basketball, I would characterize it as Carolina Basketball,""You know, it's playing hard, playing smart, and playing together. I felt like tonight we played hard, we played smart, and we played together and we had fun."

Like 19th ranked North Carolina Radford played an exhibition game on Monday October 30, 2023 against Roanoke College in Radford Virginia by score of 89-72.

Sophomore Kenyon Giles picked up where he left off during his Big South All-Freshman campaign a year ago, leading all players with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. The shifty guard showed off his range with a 3-for-5 performance from beyond the arc and added four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
 
Making his debut in a Radford uniform, Chandler Turner acquitted himself quite well, posting 21 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go with seven rebounds. Fellow debutant, Truth Harris, came off the bench to contribute nine points and a team-high nine boards.
 
The Highlanders' biggest positive from the contest was their seven blocks as a team, a figure that matches their season high during the 2022-23 season.
