As 22nd Pick In 2023 NBA Draft Thursday Dariq Whitehead Was Picked By Brooklyn Following Playing Freshman Season for Duke, Jon Scheyer

As a freshman at Duke Dariq Whitehead who is a forward played in 28 games averaging 2.4 rebounds , 1.0 assists , 0.2 blocks 0.8 steals, 8.3 points per game.

Though,

It wasn’t all roses for Dariq Whitehead while playing as a freshman at Duke as he was prone to getting injuries specifically foot injuries as he fractured his foot and had to surgery in August 2022 on the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot before having a second surgery to repair injury properly.

On March 29, 2023 Dariq Whitehead announced he was declaring for 2023 NBA Draft by saying "I'm really looking forward to this next step in my basketball career and I'm truly blessed to have this opportunity," said Whitehead. "I've dreamed of these moments for so long. I can't wait to get after it and continue preparing for the NBA Draft. I want to thank Duke University from my professors to my coaches and my teammates -- I appreciate your help with everything this year. I will forever be grateful for the Brotherhood!"

And for him, he's battled an incredible amount of adversity with the injuries that have come his way. I'm so proud of how he stuck with it and been a true team guy. Dariq is just scratching the surface on who he's going to be. I'm right in his corner as he takes this next step and goes to the next chapter and declares for the NBA Draft, and I couldn't be more excited for him and his family."
