How Jon Scheyer's Second Season As Duke Head Coach In 2023 -2024 Is Going To Be Different From His Rookie Season As Duke Head Coach In 2022-2023

When it comes to Duke their basketball program there is roster turnover every year because players declare, enter their names in the NBA Draft following their freshman season or freshman seasons.

Following 2022-2023 season Jon Scheyer’s rookie season as Duke Head Coach two of the freshman from a season ago declared their names in the 2023 NBA Draft. Those being center Dereck Lively II who was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder as the 12th overall pick before being traded to Dallas Mavericks. Forward Dariq Whitehead who was drafted 22nd by the Brooklyn Nets.

Though,

Jon Scheyer’s second season as Duke Head Coach in 2023 -2024 is going to be different as he has Kyle Filipowski, Tyrese Proctor, Mark Mitchell all returning for their sophomore seasons in 2023-2024.

With Kyle Filipowski, Tyrese Proctor, Mark Mitchell all returning along with Jeremy Roach who is a senior a guard , Ryan Young who is a center and graduate student who played at Northwestern for former Duke player Assistant, Associate Head Coach current Northwestern Head Coach Chris Collins , guard Jaylen Blakes . The freshman coming in Jared McCain who is a guard from Sacramento California , Caleb Foster who like his freshman teammate Jared McCain is a guard, TJ Power who is a forward, Sean Stewart is a forward. Jeremy Roach who is a senior a guard like freshman Jared McCain, Caleb Foster. It blends veteran players who have experience playing for Duke, Head Coach Jon Scheyer with the freshman. If the chemistry works out between the freshman, veterans a memorable season could be in store for Duke, Head Coach Jon Scheyer who’s goal every season is to win championships, hang banners up in the rafters of Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Recently,

Duke Head Coach Jon Scheyer had this to say about Kyle Filipowski, Tyrese Proctor, Mark Mitchell returning instead of declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft about the freshman to Stephen Wiseman of the News & Observer I think that it speaks to the character of our players . We have three of our guys that would have been drafted. They decided to come back to school despite the fact they would have been potentially first round picks , defiantly second round picks . I want you all to think about that. Who else has done that?’’ And you bring in a freshman class that to me is the best class in the country . With a really good freshman that have translatable games.
