BASKETBALL

The Next Coach Mike Krzyzwski

Coach K has no intentions to retire any time soon! When Coach K does retire who will be the next head coach to follow in his foot steps ?

I believe it will be Tony Bennett the head of Virginia. "According to uvasports.com" He has spent seven seasons as the head of the cavaliers in  after spending the previous three seasons as the head coach at Washington State where he was the national coach of the year in 2007. Since Tony Bennett arrived in Charlottesville the cavaliers are 136-64 in six seasons under his direction of the program.

Virginia was crowned back to back ACC Champions in 2014-2015. Coach Bennett was named the USBWA district three coach of the year for the third time in six seasons in Charlottesville. He became the fifteenth coach in division one to reach the 200 career mark. He also is the only coach to have defeated all five active hall of fame coaches who are currently coaching. Jim Boeheim of Syracuse, Larry Brown of Southern Methodist University, Mike Krzyzwski of Duke , Rick Pitino of Lousiville and Roy Williams of North Carolina. Before Tony Bennett arrived in Charlottesvile Virginia was not winning. I bet there fans got tired of them getting beat all the time.

That all changed  in 2010,when Virginia had their first winning season since 2007-2008. They were 16-15 overall and were 7-9 in ACC regular season games that year. Since Tony Bennett has been at the helm of the Men's Basketball program at Virginia, they have become relevant in basketball again while competing and winning championships. I am sure that it  is exciting for their fans to watch them have success!
