The Transition Of The Duke Football Program
If you're a Duke fan you remember when Duke wasn't good in football and losing all time . I remember the long days and nights cheering on the devils at Wallace Wade now Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Remember the Ted Roof Era? according to http://www.espn.com/college-football/news/story?id=3128003 Duke was 6-45 until they fired Ted Roof in 2007 who is now the defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech and hired David Cutcliffe who was the offensive coordinator at Tennessee.
Since Cutcliffe arrived in 2008 Duke has made some big strides in their program . A season ago Duke finished the year 8-5 with a 4-4 mark in the coastal division. They have been bowl eligible every year losing the first four and finally the devils broke through at the home of Coach Cutcliffe's favorite baseball team The New York Yankees beating Indiana 44-41 in overtime on a Ross Martin field goal last year. It was Duke's first bowl win since 1961.
What does this year have in store for the program that once was not competing or winning games? How many games will they win this year? What will their record be in conference play? Will they compete when they play North Carolina ? Will they be bowl eligible again this year? If so will they win the bowl game? Those questions are yet to be answered but will be answered soon enough.
There is nothing but positive things happening for this program ! Keep up the great work Coach Cutcliffe ! Can September 3rd come any faster when Duke Kicks off the season at Wallace Wade against North Carolina Central? Go Duke !
