New York Looks To Bounce Back As They Host Chicago

On Sunday the New York Giants will look to bounce back from their recent loss when they host Chicago.

New York who is a member of the NFC East comes into the game with a record of 3-8 while Chicago who is a member of the NFC North comes into the game with a record of 8-3.

As for New York’s previous game, Like earlier this season they lost to Philadelphia last Sunday.

Jake Elliott has joined DeSean Jackson as Eagles names that Giants fans won’t soon forget. After the kicker made a 61-yard field goal to defeat the Giants last year in Philadelphia, he put the Eagles ahead on a 43-yarder with 22 seconds remaining on Sunday. It erased a dominant first half for the Giants, who lost 25-22 and have not won at Lincoln Financial Field since 2013. After winning two in a row, the Giants fell to 3-8 on the season while the Eagles improved to 5-6 in a critical week in the NFC East race. “according to https://www.giants.com/news/instant-analysis-giants-falter-in-second-half

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE OFFENSE:

*The Giants scored an opening-drive touchdown for the second week in a row on a 13-yard pass from Eli Manning to rookie running back Saquon Barkley. And just like they did last week against the Buccaneers, they established the run game early. Barkley ran three times for 31 yards and Wayne Gallman added 16 yards on two attempts on the nine-play, 75-yard drive. The Giants held the lead until 10:11 remaining in the game. “according to https://www.giants.com/news/instant-analysis-giants-falter-in-second-half

*Barkley took the game over with a 51-yard touchdown run to extend the Giants’ lead to 16 points late in the first half. It brought his total up to 12 overall touchdowns, tying Bill Paschal (1943) and Odell Beckham Jr. (2014) for most by a rookie in franchise history. Barkley needed just one half to notch his 10th game with 100 yards from scrimmage. The Giants racked up 346 yards of offense in the first half, more than they had in five complete games this season. Things dried up in the second half, however, for Barkley and the Giants, who managed just three points after the break. “according to https://www.giants.com/news/instant-analysis-giants-falter-in-second-half

*Eli Manning, who had a near-perfect outing last week against Tampa Bay, had not thrown an interception since Week 8 until Malcolm Jenkins ended a promising drive just before halftime. The Giants were looking to extend their lead back to two possessions, but they settled for a 19-11 advantage heading into the locker room. Jenkins was the only certainty in an Eagles secondary decimated by injuries this season. The Giants were outscored 14-3 after the interception and now have a minus-7 turnover differential in their eight losses. In their three wins, they are plus-8. “according to https://www.giants.com/news/instant-analysis-giants-falter-in-second-half

*While Rhett Ellison made his ninth start of the season, fellow tight end Evan Engram did not play after injuring his hamstring in pregame warmups. Last week, Engram saw just 17 snaps, trailing Scott Simonson (18) and Ellison (40). “according to https://www.giants.com/news/instant-analysis-giants-falter-in-second-half

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE DEFENSE:

*The Giants allowed 24 points to the Eagles in the first half of their Week 6 meeting, but just 11 on Sunday. They also kept Philadelphia off the field, holding the offense to 1-for-4 on third down in the first half as the Giants dominated the time of possession. Like the offense, the tables turned in the second half. Philadelphia got the run game going, finishing with 127 yards on 29 carries, including a one-yard touchdown run and the ensuing two-point conversion by Josh Adams. “according to https://www.giants.com/news/instant-analysis-giants-falter-in-second-half

*The defense was unable to get off the field on a critical fourth-and-one just before the two-minute warning near the end of the game. Carson Wentz hit Nelson Agholor for 12 yards and a fresh set of downs at the Giants 30, leading to the game-winning field goal. “according to https://www.giants.com/news/instant-analysis-giants-falter-in-second-half

*The pass rush recorded multiple sacks for the first time since Week 7 and third overall this season. The Giants tied a season-high with three from Alec Ogletree, Mario Edwards, and Tae Davis. “according to https://www.giants.com/news/instant-analysis-giants-falter-in-second-half

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT SPECIAL TEAMS:

Kicker Aldrick Rosas remained perfect on the road this season, making all three of his attempts from 25, 51 and 29 yards. The third tied the game with 5:52 left in the game. He is now 23-for-24 overall this season, including 3-for-4 on 50-yard attempts.

*Corey Coleman did it again. The former first-round draft pick has played in three games for the Giants. In the first, he broke a 51-yard kickoff return. In the second, he had a 40-yarder. On Sunday, he returned it 46 yards following an Eagles touchdown drive that cut the deficit to one possession late in the first half. “according to https://www.giants.com/news/instant-analysis-giants-falter-in-second-half

"You have no idea how this kid prepares," said Nagy, who served as Daniel's position coach with the Chiefs from 2013-15. "Every week, how he prepares. And since the day I met him in 2013, those days don't change. He's very consistent. “according to https://www.chicagobears.com/news/game-recap-bears-win-fifth-straight-in-detroit
