NC State shutout USF , recorded their inaugural win of the season in Raleigh!

The NC State defense shutout its first FBS opponent since 2011, and the Pack offense had a pair of running backs go over 100 yards rushing each in a 45-0 season opening win over visiting USF at Carter-Finley Stadium.

The NC State defense forced three interceptions and kept the Bulls' offense under 300 yards for the game.

On offense, NC State posted 525 yards of total offense, including 293 on the ground – the highest rushing total since 2019 vs. Western Carolina. Pack running backs Zonovan Knight (163) and Ricky Person, Jr., (105) combined for 268 on the ground and combined for four total touchdowns.

Mississippi State jumped out to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter, but the Wolfpack responded with back-to-back touchdowns to close the gap to 21-14. Tight end, Pharoah McKever, who made the switch to offense from defensive end for bowl practices, caught an 82-yard TD pass and Jaylen Samuels followed with a 48-yard TD rush. But the Bulldogs scored the final 10 points of the quarter and held a 31-14 halftime lead.

The teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter, with MSU missing the extra point but still holding a 37-21 edge. The Bulldogs tacked on two more fourth quarter scores, before Samuels added his second rushing score for the final margin.
