It wouldn’t sit right for me not playing the bowl game. I still have a lot of decisions to be made on my future, it’s just something i’m praying about, talking to my family about, but I love this team.
The reality of it is I am here for my team, I’m not doing this just because to show people, that’s what I’m about , that’s truly who I am. I pride myself on being a good teammate and always being here for these guys and it just wouldn’t sit right for me kind of given up on the season no matter whats at stake.

North Carolina lost to South Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl by a score of 38-21 in Charlotte North Carolina at the home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers!

North Carolina got onto the scoreboard on a 63-yard, second quarter touchdown run from British Brooks. USC led, 25-13, at halftime.
South Carolina upped their lead to 32-13 with a touchdown on the first draft of the second half and held on for the win.

Sam Howell had this to say about North Carolina, declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft!
"Dear Carolina, my three years here have been the best years of my life for so many reasons," Howell said. "The relationships I've built here are some that I will cherish forever."
Howell then thanks God, his teammates and his coaches, including Mack Brown and offensive coordinator Phil Longo. He also gave a special nod to UNC defensive backs coach Dre Bly, who he's known since he was 13 years old growing up in Charlotte.
To all the fans, you guys are the best. It is an honor to go out on the field and play for you guys.
There's been a lot of ups and downs, but you guys have always been there for me and my teammates," Howell said. "The past few years and past few months have been a whirlwind, but I have a lot of peace about the next chapter in my life. With that being said, I'm excited to announce that I'll be entering the 2022 NFL Draft.
