Pair of ranked Atlantic Division Atlantic Coast Conference Teams in NC State, Wake Forest who have same overall records, records in conference are opposing each other tonight in North Carolina’s state capital.

Where?

On the gridiron!

NC State is ranked 22nd this weeks AP Top 25 Poll comes into the game with a record of 6-2 2-2 is fifth in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference because they won last Thursday 22-21 over Virginia Tech in North Carolina’s state capital who unlike them is a member of the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Though,

It won’t be like that much longer as the Atlantic Coast Conference became the latest conference to get rid of divisions in favor of a new scheduling format Starting in 2023, the league announced it will move to a 3-5-5 format, in which each team has three permanent rivalry games played annually, with the other 10 opponents rotating on an every-other-year basis.

The plans for a shift back to a single-division format gained steam during the league's spring meetings in May, with the ACC hoping to improve its TV inventory of marquee games and set up a league championship game that would include its two best teams annually. Interestingly, the new format would not have altered the teams playing in the ACC title game in seven of the past eight years.

In NC State’s 22-21 win Trent Pennix caught 7 yard pass from MJ Morris though, the two-point conversion to at the time failed before Thayer Thomas caught 18 yard pass from MJ Morris for touchdown and another two point conversion failed in the fourth quarter.

Before that though NC State scored on a 35 yard field goal from Christopher Dunn to go up 3-0 in 2nd quarter before Virginia Tech scored three touchdowns in the 3rd quarter as Grant Wells ran for yard touchdown, William Ross kicked the extra point before Kaleb Smith caught 85 yard pass from Grant Wells , Williams kicked the extra point to put Virginia Tech up 7-3 14-3 in third quarter before Grant Williams ran for 20 yard touchdown, William Ross kicked extra point before NC State responded with touchdown, extra point of their own as Thayer Thomas caught 35 yard pass from MJ Morris Christopher Dunn kicked extra point.
