Syndergaard Dominates As New York Avoids Getting Swept By Miami

Noah Syndergaard's  start was pushed back a day due to a blister that cut his opening day start short but it didn't seem to affect him Sunday as he dominated helped  New York avoid being swept by Miami. 

He struck out nine Marlins on the night, Syndergaard cracked for his only two runs one of them was earned following a Yoenis Cespedes fielding error in the second inning. New York got the lead with three runs as they rallied in the first inning against Miami starter Edinson Volquez as   Conforto drew a bases-loaded walk to cap that rally, before homering in the sixth. Jay Bruce also homered off Volquez, and Neil Walker ripped out a run-scoring single for his first RBI of the season.while Noah Syndergaard pitched with the lead most of the night. At no point was Syndergaard more dominant than the second inning, when he struck out, Giancarlo Stanton,  Justin Boar and Marcell Ozuna on 13 pitches. Relying heavily on sliders and changeups down in the zone, Syndergaard fanned five of the first six batters he faced, reaching as high as 101 mph with his two-seam fastball in the first inning. New York continues their road trip with a visit to Philadelphia Monday with first pitch coming at 7:05 pm with  Jacob deGrom, who fired six shutout innings Wednesday against the Braves, will start opposite right-hander Jerod Eickhoff. Miami will return action Tuesday with their home opener as they host Atlanta.  Dan Straily who has a record of 0-1,  with a 13.50 earn run average will make his first home start as a Marlin. The right-hander was acquired in January from the Reds. Bartolo Colon will be on the mound  for Atlanta.
