Troy Silva Now Teaches The Game On The Diamond To Others
Some players who get drafted by Major League teams have a long professional career on the diamond.
For Troy Silva who was drafted by Cleveland in 1997 in the 18th round as a pitcher that wasn’t the case as he only played professionally on the diamond for six years. “according to https://troypsilva.com/about-troy/
Why? The right -hander was forced to retire in 2002 after two arm surgeries. “according to https://troypsilva.com/about-troy/
Though the right -hander isn’t playing professionally anymore he is still around the game on the diamond. How? Troy joined his old college buddy, José Rijo-Berger, at Rijo Athletics, a baseball and softball training facility in Woodinville, Washington. He’s been there ever since, teaching players of all ages about hitting and fielding, and coaches and parents about how to teach and motivate their players and children. He has conducted over 30,000 lessons over the past 2 decades, helping thousands of kids achieve their goals of college and pro ball and is recognized nationwide as a leader in player and coaching development. “according to https://troypsilva.com/about-troy/
What Does Troy Silva enjoy most about teaching the game on the diamond? Well, I reached out to him via direct message on Twitter and this is what he had to say.
1) What excites me about coaching and teaching is to give kids confidence, not just in the sport but also in life. Even more important is the opportunity I have to show the love of Jesus to all I encounter
. 2) I love to teaching hitting and infield...Even though I was drafted as a pitcher in pro ball, I never really was a pitcher, just threw hard. So while I feel like I have a lot to offer pitchers, it just wasn’t a passion.
