Gerrit Cole Has Yet To Take The Mound For New York But Is Making His Presence Felt In Other Ways In The Big Apple
Gerrit Cole has yet to take the mound for his first start for the team that wears the pinstripes and the team he grew up rooting for.
Why? Because of the Corona Virus Outbreak. Though his presence has yet to have been felt on the mound the right-hander who spent the last two seasons with Houston is making his presence felt in the community.
How?
Cole said Thursday that he and his wife, Amy, plan to make “significant” donations to Direct Relief, an organization that coordinates with public health authorities and nonprofit organizations to assist health workers responding to COVID-19. “according to an article by Bryan Hoch on mlb.com/yankees
The newest addition to New York’s starting rotation had this say about making the donation.“Being within arm’s length of this, with everybody in the tri-state area so heavily affected, we wanted to jump in and help as much as we could,” Cole told the Post. “It will be rolling along in the next couple of days as far as contributing to New York. As the crisis evolves, we kind of evolve. I trust the people who are in charge of these foundations to get what we are giving them exactly where it is needed the most.” according to an article by Bryan Hoch on mlb.com/yankees
Cole’s donations will be made through the “Gerrit and Amy Cole Foundation. “according to article by Bryan Hoch on mlb.com/yankees
