Kyle Higashioka Finally Gets To Be At The Major League Level Full-Time
For the last three seasons Kyle Higashioka who is a catcher has split time between New York and Scranton Pennsylvania .
Why?
Because he was the replacement if Austin Romine or Gary Sanchez were injured at the major league level. With Austin Romine now in Detroit Kyle Higashika’s role has changed. Instead, of going back and forth between the Major League team and New York’s Triple A team in Scranton the Scranton Wilkies -Barre Railriders Kyle Higashika will be at the Major League Level full time and be backup to Gary Sanchez.
In 2019 Kyle Higashioka Hit .214 (12-for-56) with 8R, 5 doubles, 3HR and 11RBI in 18 games over three stints with the Yankees (4/12-23, 7/24-8/9, 9/8-29)..made 14 starts at C...Hit doubles in the second and third innings on 8/4 vs. Boston, his first career game with 2XBH..had 4 doubles in 46 career games coming into the day...Collected his first career multi-HR game and set a career high with 5RBI on 8/7 at Baltimore..had never had more than 2RBI in a game entering the night. “according to https://www.mlb.com/player/kyle-higashioka-543309
What will he do in his first full year at the Major League level?
At this I don’t have an answer to that question. Why? Because the season has yet to begin and we don’t know when and if the 2020 season will begin. Why? Because of the Corona Virus that is effecting us in the United States and around the world. What I do know though is that Kyle Higashioka will be at the Major League level for years to come for the team that wears the pinstripes.
