The Route To The Major Leagues
Every college baseball players dream is to get to the big leagues.
How does a player who gets drafted get there? Baseball has what you call a farm system for every team. When a player gets drafted they start in the minor leagues.
The New Yankees farm system looks like this .
Single A Charleston
Double A Trenton
Advanced Tampa
Triple A Scranton /Wilkes Barre
For a short season advanced players play for the Staten Island Pulaski Yankees.
As a player gets better they move up in the minor leagues and pretty soon they could get their shot with the major league team. Teams also call up players from their farm system teams if a player on the current major league roster is on the disabled list.
After the player who was injured returns from the disabled list the player that took his place while he was injured gets sent back down to the minor leagues.
