Bentley Spain, M.J Stewart To Represent North Carolina At ACC Kick-Off In Charlotte

It was announced today that offensive tackle Bentley Spain and cornerback M.J Stewart will represent North Carolina at the ACC Kickoff on July 13-14th.

As a junior was  a steady performer at left tackle who started all 13 games this season and 23 for his career • Finished with a team-best 86 percent grade and three knockdown blocks against NC State • Graded out at 84 percent with three knockdowns in the win over The Citadel • Had a team-best grade of 87 percent with five knockdowns at Duke • Also had five knockdowns and graded out at 85 percent in the win over Georgia Tech • Recorded six knockdowns in the win at Virginia • Notched a season-best eight knockdowns in the win at Miami • Graded out at 86 percent in the win at Florida State • Matched a team-high with five knockdowns and finished with an 85 percent grade in the comeback victory over Pitt • Finished with seven knockdowns in the win at Illinois • Started the season opener and had a pair of knockdowns against Georgia. Also as a junior  M.J Stewart was named  honorable mention All-ACC by ACSMA • Has combined for 25 pass breakups over the last two seasons (11 in 2016, 14 in 2015) • Ranked sixth on the team with 66 tackles • Also had a team-high 11 pass breakups, a team-best two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries • Has 29 career pass breakups, which ranks third all-time at UNC • Had seven tackles and a pass breakup in the Sun Bowl • Recovered a fumble and had six tackles vs. NC State • Recovered two fumbles, returning one for 25 yards, in a 41-7 win over The Citadel • Had four solo tackles, including one for loss, and a pass breakup in a 48-20 win over Georgia Tech • Made six solo stops and broke up a pass in the win at Virginia • Broke up two passes and made two tackles in the win at No. 16 Miami • Posted six tackles and broke up two passes in the win at No. 12 Florida State • Made a career-high 13 tackles (10 solo) and forced a fumble in the comeback win over Pitt • Made four tackles, including a tackle for loss, and broke up a pass in the win over JMU • Had two tackles and a pass breakup in the win at Illinois • Was part of a defensive secondary that held Illinois to just 127 yards passing and 3.6 per pass attempt • Posted four tackles and forced a fumble in the season opener vs. No. 18 Georgia "according to http://www.goheels.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209362497
